Clive House
Nestled in the middle of residential buildings in one of the busiest areas of the city in Nagerbazar, the Clive House decays in negligence, held together by old scaffolding and crimes of the past. The Clive House was never a permanent area of residence for Robert Clive. It was more of a summer residence which served as a hunting shelter and military refuge for British officials and officers of the Bengal Artillery. The House was later gifted to Mir Jafar who then managed it on behalf of Robert Clive. After the partition of India, this structure has also served as a resting place for refugee families seeking shelter after being displaced from their homes.
A notice classifying the building as a 'dangerous building' prone to collapse. During our visit, the building was still under renovation.
Many working class settlements have come up around the house
